about

This CD is a compilation of different recording projects spanning 7 years of recording.

The first project is from the band KING UKULELE that released a CD called Yaaka Hula Dickey Dula in early 2000. The CD featured a 12 piece ensemble doing the novelty jazz and tin pan alley tunes.

In 2003 Hal fronted the uke ensemble THE INCOMBUSTIBLE MEN and they released the popular LOU OW! and played a number of Canadian festivals.

Finally, in 2005, Manitoba Hal released the CD Ukulele Bluesman, a CD featuring several blues tracks recorded over a four hour session during the Winter solstice.

This collection compares the sounds of tin pan alley and the blues with the Hapa Hoale music of the same era. This collection includes two previously unreleased recordings.
