The dictionary definition of Huckster is
    1. One who sells wares or provisions in the street; a peddler or hawker. 2. One who uses aggressive, showy methods to promote or sell a product.

This is most definitely true of Manitoba Hal. He has been a travelling musician for the past 10 years playing everywhere from coffee joints to festival stages. This recording is a solo "live off the floor" recording of his unique and powerful blues songs performed on ukulele.

Manitoba Hal has two international ukulele endorsements (RISA from Germany and aNueNue from Taiwan), has been featured at the New York Ukulele Festival 2008, Ukulele Ceilidh 2005, 2007, Great Canadian Ukulele Expo 2003, 2004 and the Ukulele Hall of Fame 2001 and is one of a handful of authentic blues performers performing with the ukulele today.

Huckster was recorded "live off the floor" in Hal's one hundred year old Victorian Cottage in Nova Scotia. There is no overdubbing and it's a real snapshot of an artist and his craft. Two songs feature the use of looping technology to create a "band feel" but for the most part the recording showcases the power of a talented musician with the guts to appear without accompaniment.

Al Wood from Ukulele Hunt calls this CD "Essential Listening"

Manitoba Hal Shelburne, Nova Scotia

Manitoba Hal proves that the uke can be small but mighty as he pulls out powerful blues riffs and melodies.

Hal uses live looping to produce a one-man-band experience, adding subtle important background beats to his extraordinary ukulele strumming and riffing. Many wouldn't associate the ukulele as a blues instrument, but Hal takes out all the hula, leaving only room for deep blues to prevail.
